2024 Recap

Last year seems like a distant memory but was only a couple of weeks ago.

On reflection I did not do enough to keep this blog up to date and to share the progress and resources that I had found on the major projects of the year.

The biggest project by far has been expanding my use of Synapse to demonstrate the capabilities and capacity of the tool. This is very much a work project and a team effort but as an example using Synapse to mange an ETL pipeline that our legacy system took nearly 15 hours to Load the data down to 1 hr 45 min using Synapse.

The general theme of last year was proving that Lake was the way forward and that Microsoft tools were able to handle challenging and complex scenarios.

The Year ahead

2025 is the year of Fabric!

I am working through DP 600 and just starting DP 700 prep to support with a major project that has kicked off to implement Microsoft Fabric as a ETL platform. The project is just getting started at the moment and has a pretty tight turn around but is very exiting and brings a lot of new stuff to learn and play with.

The Blog

My plan with this Blog has been to share cool stuff that I find or make so to that end I am setting a goal of doing at least a post per month - sometimes very techie sometimes more of a design area that I have been digging into.
